Sugar Loaf and Red Beach with my Bae

I have already written about our visit to the Christ  here. As I have mentioned, writing in English is very challenging for me and I hope my post can somehow help you during your time in Brazil. By the way, Brazil writes with “s” for us: Brasil!

Travelling to the Sugar Loaf is as easy as travelling to the Christ. Just follow Google instructions and you are safe. We had a car and it was straightforward even for my Bae. He drove here all the time with no hard times. The only annoying part is parking the car around there. You will need to be very patient and drive around the neighborhood to find a parking spot. We parked in the neighborhood, called “Urca” not far from there.

Sugar Loaf is located in a military area, which makes  you feel a bit safer around. It is also very close do the Red Beach (praia vermelha), which is not red at all, but pretty 😉  Don´t forget to bring your swimming suit in the case you decide to go to the beach! If you want more information, visit their website . There you will find information in Portuguese, English, Spanish and German.

We got there on a Saturday morning and the weather was sunny, with clear sky. We purchased our tickets there, no need to buy in advance. A very small line and we were already inside the Cable Car going up the sugar loaf. Differently from other “sugar loafs” around the world, which were named because they look like a real sugar bit,  this one was so named because it looks like a kind of bread we have here. Feel free to disagree, but I am a native, you know…. (You can get a trip to Sugar Loaf here)

Ooooo, love…

Going up the hill you have two stops. Get out in the first one, visit, take a bunch of pics, and be amazed by how Rio is wonderful! It is a stunning view from up there. You will find a little mall up there, snack bars and gift shops. There is also a restaurant, but we haven´t eaten there. Further up there is another look out as stunning as the first one. They have a kind of little museum showing how the cable car was built and showing how the engines work.  You can also find about the engines and how they work in the way out the Sugar Loaf. It is very interesting. But the outside view is better! I will let the pictures show by their selves 😉

When we were leaving sugar loaf the weather was still amazing. Unfortunately I had forgotten my swimming suit, haha…but we went quickly to the beach just to see around. There is a buffet restaurant there with a nice view. However, that day it was very busy. Course, it was a sunny day and a Saturday! Local ones also know how to enjoy it there!!

There are also some options of trails and hiking you can do there.  You can find some information here, it is a blog I found in English. But if you need any assistance , I will be glad helping…just leave your comment 😉
